Results

      The town of Gold Rock was located on Lake Manitou, near Dryden Ontario. This mining town had a hotel, blacksmith shop, church, general store and later, a one room school. All mines contributed to these services from the miner's salaries. The mines also provided homes for their employees. ~1905

      Sakoose Mine, which also went by the names Watson Mine or Golden Whale, was situated at mining location HW 416, south of Dyment, in 1868. In 1901 it was sold by the owners Monroe and Watson, to the Ottawa Gold Mining and Milling Company Limited, and became Sakoose Mine.

      Paymaster Mine was in operation 1903-09 and was located on the west side of Mud Lake(near Lake Wabigoon). Production ended in 1909.

      Big Master Mine on the upper Manitou Lake, was one of the better known mines of the region. Next to the Laurentian Mine, it turned out to be the highest in gold production.
