      Old and rusted. The base held kerosene, a flammable liquid. The glass chimney was temporarily lifted in order for the wick to be lite with a match and fueled with the kerosene before it was placed back down.

      Wooden toy muskets were also used as training tools for military recruits; including those in World War I due to a shortage of real rifles to train with.

      This large map is an aerial representative of Cobourg in 1867 and is based off of the 1874 bird's eye map by Mr. Brosius. This map was made by a group of Museum Foundation volunteers to celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary and Cobourg's 180th Anniversary.

      This bell belonged to a school house at Trent River which later became a private residence.

      Music scrolls were used in player pianos; pianos that played on their own. This particular music scroll is for the composition “Doll Dance” by Nacio Herb.
