      This house located at 120-122 Centre Street North was built in the 1850's as the residence of Whitby grocer Yeoman Gibson. It was subsequently the home of his daughter, Miss Alma Gibson, until 1957 when she moved into Fairview Lodge. It has been a double house since that time.

      Spencer School was built in 1877 on lot 30, Concession 7 in Whitby Township. It was known as S.S. No.6. The school closed in 1965 but the building was used as Spencer Community Centre from 1967.

      St. Bernard's Separate School was opened in 1926 at the north-east corner of Centre and Dundas Streets. An addition was constructed in 1950. The school was closed in 1975 and demolished in 1987.

      Mack Bassett's jewellery store was located on the west side of Brock Street north of Dundas Street.

      The Hewis Brothers Butchers replaced their butcher cart with a truck around the 1920s. Henry James (Harry) Hewis was born in 1894 and died at Oshawa 20 February 1968. He was in the butcher business with his father, William Edward Hewis (1865-1964) and his brother, William George David Hewis (1897-1990).

      Mildmay Camp was located on the shore of Lake Ontario, east of the Cranberry Marsh in Whitby Township. It was an Anglican Church camp which was operated from around 1927 to 1953 by the Mildmay Institute of Toronto.

      The brick engine house is located at 400 Mary Street East on the north-east corner of Mary and Hickory Streets. It was built in 1876 to replace an engine house that burned down in 1875. The building was altered in the 1960s and made into a garage.
