      In 1871 Christopher Kress purchased the North American Hotel in Preston, Ontario. The hotel, located on the corner of King and Fountain Streets, was enlarged in 1900 and renamed the Kress Hotel. James Esson was a photographer in Preston between 1870-1920.       St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church was built in 1834. The current stone-block church was built on the corner of King and Church Streets in the Preston area of Cambridge in 1889. The lower left hand corner of the image is partially obscured by a stain.

      This schoolhouse was built in 1839 and was later established as the first free school in Upper Canada in 1845. It was rebuilt about 2015 after a fire and looks quite a bit different today, but still stands at 849 Queenston Road in Preston.
