      The arrival of the railroad in 1886 marked the beginning of a new settlement near Falkenburg, which came to be known as Falkenburg Station. this was once a major siding for CN trains, operating until the early 1960s just a few kilometers north of Bracebridge.

      Brown's Log Cabin garage or service station was established by Bert Brown, the local British American Oil distributor. According to Bracebridge: an early settlement in Muskoka by Bob Petry, this business was located at the corner of Manitoba Street and Monck Hill, or the current Hwy 118 W.

      Brown's Log Cabin Service station or garage, owned by Bert Brown, was situated at the corner of Manitoba St. and Hwy 118 West, the current site (2019) of Scotiabank plaza.

      The interior of Hutchison's grocery, flour and feed store, established in 1886 and located for many years on the east side of Manitoba Street in downtown Bracebridge.

      This photo was taken of Windermere House on Lake Rosseau in its early days before it expanded in 1902, adding a second tower. By the 1890s, the resort could accommodate 220 guests.

      Logging sleighs such as these were used to transport logs to the mill or possibly to the river to be floated to the mill.
