      A.T. Lawler's grocery store was the first store south of the Dominion Bank on the east side of Brock Street. The Lawler family operated the store in this location from 1878 to 1928. The delivery truck is from c.1925.

      Herb Wilson's meat market was in the one storey brick building on the north side of Dundas Street, east of the library at Byron Street.

      W.J. Luke's bicycle shop was located at 301 Dundas Street West, on the southwest corner of Dundas and Centre Streets from 1901 to 1914. In 1915, the frame building was replaced by a brick garage. Mr. Luke became Whitby's first Ford car dealer in 1913.

      The Royal Hotel was located at 171 Brock Street North, Whitby. It was built in 1873 on the east side of Brock Street, south of Mary Street. At the time this print was made, Antoine Rousseau was the hotel's operator.

      Drew's Restaurant was located at 114 Dundas Street West on the north side of Dundas Street between Brock and Byron STreets. It was operated from 1931 to 1943 by Fred and Gertrude Drew and was also the Gray Coach bus depot for Whitby.

      Hamilton & Company Store was built in 1858 on the east side of Brock Street midway between Dundas and Colborne Streets. It was destroyed in the Great Fire of October 16, 1877.
