      The City of Kawartha Lakes declared a State of Emergency (SOE) on March 24, 2020, in line with the Ontario government. This SOE remained in effect in line with the province's declared SOE.

      Mayor Letham announced that the City would continue to provide essential services, waiving all penalties for water and wastewater service changes for April and June, and provided a 60-day relief period for tax bills, extending the due date to be the end of June instead of the end of April.
