      The village of Utterson, located about halfway between Bracebridge and Huntsville, was a busy place in the early 1900's. It had at least two hotels, three general stores and a busy railway station.

      The Cherokee began service in 1908, accomodating 400 passengers. Starting in 1931 she became known as the "Sunset Cruiser", taking passengers from lakeside hotels to Port Carling for evening dances.       Built in 1893, the Medora was 122 feet long. In 1901-2, she was enlarged another 20 feet, making her the largest ship on the Muskoka Lakes until the Sagamo appeared in 1906. The Medora was retired in 1931, placed in dry dock and unfortunately gutted by fire in 1940.
