      The Midland elevator was built in 1881 and burned on 24 April 1904 according to Geo. R. Osborne, 'Midland and her Pioneers (1939; reprint ed. Mika Publishing., Belleville, 1975). This illustrates the elevator after it was enlarged in 1886/87 and before the next elevator was constructed in 1898.
