      Quite a romantic view of our past. A sleigh ride along Cumberland St. in Port Arthur around the turn of the century. The large building on the corner is the Canadian Bank of Commerce, also the Algoma Hotel can be seen in this photo.

      Carl Gustave Linde was commissioned to photograph the construction of the Transcontinental Railway near Kenora, Ontario. Construction in the area of the Transcontinental Railway took place in the early 1900's. The contract for this section was given to Olsen, and the name is inscribed on this photo.

      This wood may have been delivered by ship as much as by the rail lines to Fort William.

      The factory, built in 1872, was at the end of Centre St. S. and was eventually demolished. It was first inhabited by High Beaver Hats, then by Masson Manufacturing Company. In 1892 J. Schofield purchased the building and incorporated the Schofield Woollen Company.
