      Mr. George L. Beardmore (b. 16 Feb 1818-1893) started Tannery with brother Joseph in Hamilton in 1840. Purchased Acton Tannery in 1865. Passed it onto his sons: W.D., George W., A.O. and F.N. Beardmore.
