      This spirited 1973 photo by Alan W. Sweigert shows CHARLES DICK downbound in the Cuyahoga River at Cleveland, a scene never to be repeated.

      W.F. WHITE, soon to enter service for Westdale Shipping as ERINDALE, is seen in the Cuyahoga River in this 1974 photo. She is yielding to the none-too-gentle ministrations of the G-tug TEXAS.

      This photo shows the now-retired CLARENCE B. RANDALL downbound in the St. Mary's River abreast of Frechette Point. The date is July 29, 1975.

      This is SARNOR as she appeared in drydock at Buffalo on June 1st, 1917, a scant two months before the eruption of the legal battle over her ownership.

      On July 10, 1911 WILLIAM HENRY MACK rammed and sank JOHN MITCHELL on Lake Superior. This Young photo shows her downbound at the Soo Locks for repairs not long after the accident.

      The date is 1927 and the camera of A. E. Young has caught WM. F. FITCH pushing her way through Spring ice above the Soo locks.

      This extremely rare photo shows the launch of the Eastern Steamship Co. canaller NISBET GRAMMER into the Mersey at Birkenhead on April 14, 1923.

      The only known photo of NISBET GRAMMER in operation. It shows her downbound into Lake St Louis at Cascades Point below Lock One, Soulanges Canal. The date must be 1925.

      The camera of A. E. Young caught EDWARD E. LOOMIS downbound at Little Rapids in 1927, seven years before the collision that was the undoing of both herself and W. C. FRANZ.

      This is WELLANDOC (I) as she appeared when new. Note the "sawmill" stack. Young photo at Little Rapids Cut is dated 1928.

      The camera of Daniel Berube, Rimouoski, caught WIT TRANSPORT, the former COVE TRANSPORT, aground in the St. Lawrence just west of Matane, Quebec, in late November. She was subsequently released.

      NASSAU, formerly GLENCAIRN, deteriorated considerably during her many years of idleness at South Chicago.
