      Pewter on stone - awarded to Keith Oliver. One of the Cobourg Civic Awards distributed in 2012. The building represents Victoria Hall.

      One large tin, scoop-shaped, container to hold merchandise. Paired with a small cast iron platform that held weights to counter balance the merchandise. These both sit on a corresponding scale. See “Merchant Scoop Balance Scale”.

      Made of metal and wood. Half of a cut lemon would be placed in the squeezer (face down so that the rind was facing the side without holes) and when the handles were pressed together the juice would flow out of the holes into a waiting container for use.

      The Ontario Hospital was a mental hospital located in the old Victoria College building in 1921. Between 1921 and 1973 this hospital was strictly for female patients. In 1974 it was renamed D'Arcy Place and shortly after that it was moved to D'Arcy street, leaving the building empty once again.

      These curling irons were heated over the stove. There were no temperature controls, so it took practice to ensure hair was not burnt in the process.
