      The first City Hall was built at the corner of Albert and Erb Streets in 1874. The city offices moved in 1961 and the building was demolished in 1969. The fire hall was built circa 1870 and demolished in 1966. The bandstand was donated by Joseph E. Seagram in 1884. …

      The farmers' market building was built circa 1910 and demolished to make room for the current library building in 1965. A farmers' market had operated in the area since 1867, operating in the basement of the first town hall building since 1874.

      The covered grandstand was built by Alois Bauer in 1894 and accomodated spectators for local sports events, bicycle, motorcycle and dog races. The grandstand was sold to the Town in 1920 by the Waterloo Grandstand Company. It was demolished in 1953.

      The Globe Furniture Company was moved to Waterloo in 1910 after 21 years of successful business in Walkerville, Ontario. Edward F.       The museum operated from May 1984 to March 1997. The City of Waterloo purchased the Seagram property for $4 million in the fall of 1997. In July 2002, the city sold the building to the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI).
