      The City of Kawartha Lakes declared a State of Emergency (SOE) on March 24, 2020, in line with the Ontario government. This SOE remained in effect in line with the province's declared SOE.

      Lindsay Transit suspended all regular service effective March 23, 2020 in order to increase safety measures and further implement social distancing. The LIMO Specialized Transit service continued to operate on an emergency schedule only, prioritizing rides for those needing transportation for medical purposes such as appointments.

      Fenelon Falls Home Hardware installed makeshift vinyl "sneezeguards" at their cash registers to protect staff and customers.

      Fenelon Falls Pharmasave implmented a closed door policy in response to positive cases of COVID-19 in the City. Customers were able to obtain prescriptions through delivery service or curbside pickup.

      RONA Coboconk offered drive-thru service and delivery options with new hours for safe social distancing.

      Shields Home Hardware, Coboconk, implemented drive-thru service for curbside pickup orders. The store was not open for customers to enter and all orders had to be ordered ahead of pick up.

      Barb Curry and Lynwood Polley shared a thank you for the positive act to a family who passed by on North Water Street, Coboconk, picking up garbage out of the ditches while wearing protective disposable gloves.

      Bouncers Are Us, a backyard party supplier of inflatables, held a kids colouring contest for kids with a $500 grand prize towards their next backyard party once the COVID-19 crisis is over. The contest was open to children from Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland.

      As spring arrived, community gardens were included in the list of mandatory closures. This is the notice and yellow tape at the entrance to the gardens at Fleming College. To the gardeners' great relief, on April 25th, the government lifted the order and allowed community gardens to open!

      With parks closed and kids restless and bored, more backyard--and front yard play sets and equipment are appearing. This one was installed in a front yard on Adelaide St. in Lindsay, April 25th.
