      Almonds Town Line School, also known as Union School Section No.1, was located on the north-west corner of Kingston Road at the Whitby-Pickering town line. It was destroyed by fire on 4 November 1917 and replaced with a brick school house which was demolished around 1977.

      Whitby Collegiate Institute was built in 1873 and was located on the south side of Colborne Street between King and Centre Streets. The school was demolished in 1975-1976.

      Harrison Putney(1864-1950) was a photographer in Oshawa in 1898-1899. He was the stepson of Ebenezer Elijah (E.E.) Henry (1826-1915).

      Madeleine went on to marry Franklin Severn and died 6 Mar 1980 and is buried in Oshawa's Union Cemetery. Adeleine never married and died on 14 Jun 1979 and is also buried in Union Cemetery The photographer was Leonard Stedman (1866-1957), who operated a shop on Simcoe Street in Oshawa.
