      Dougald and Henrietta bought and moved into this house at Highway 4 and Jane St. in 1925. Dougald died in 1930 and Henrietta in 1937, at which time Agnes Macphail took over the house. A family member helped identify the group members.

      Dugald and Henrietta purchased their home in Ceylon in 1925 and Dugald McPhail died five years later in January 1930.

      Agnes Macphail conducted early political campaigns out of her family home at Six Corners, travelling in her Starr automobile to campaign platforms throughout her Grey County riding.

      The brick school house was built in 1887. The bell was bought in 1892 and cost $10. The school closed in 1968 and students were sent to Macphail Memorial School in Flesherton.

      Originally called the Flesherton Station. However, as the station was not actually in the town they changed the name to Ceylon (after the tea) to fix the confusion it made for the postal service.
