      This large hard covered scrapbook is a photo essay about the Gardiner/Allen Family. It contains information and photos about the Allen family from the 1700's to 1954. The Gardiner side of the family includes photos and information from 1857 to the late 1950's.

      In the late 1940's Blind River had several taxi companies including Star Taxi, Deluxe, Central and a few more. Unlike today, drivers often had to dodge not just people and other vehicles but sometimes cows, or chickens.
