      This image of the Oakville Harbour likely shows the old bridge across Lakeshore Rd. (Originally Colborne St.), however this is not confirmed.

      Because this clearly shows the bridge having 4 supports, it is likely the bridge over the Sixteen between Cornwall Road to the south and Cross Avenue on the north, just west of Trafalgar Road.

      A postcard illustrating the Radial Bridge in Oakville. The Hamilton Radial Railway operated between Hamilton and Oakville and the tracks ran along what is now Rebecca Street. The Anderson Bridge replaced the Radial bridge in the early 1960s. The headquarters building on Randall Street still stands today.

      Harbour Grove, also known as Lewis Grove and Chisholm's Grove was a popular picnic area for those boating along the shoreline upon the White Star, operated by the Oakville Navigation Company. It featured a pavilion and refreshments booths as well as a large area for games.

      The Aquatic Club House was located at the foot of William Street. It was home to the Oakville Club which was formed in 1908 from a previously established Aquatic Club.

      Mount Vernon was built in the 1890s as a summer home for John A. Chisholm and family, residents of New York State. The three storey clapboard house overlooked Lakeside park. It was tragicially destroyed by fire in December of 1928.

      Between 1908 and 1909, a water system was installed through Oakville. The system reservoir was built near Lake Ontario between Kerr and Wilson Streets. Building this system, meant fire department services could be better organized. This photograph is mounted as a post card.

      In the early 1900s the Independent Order of Foresters or I.O.F. chose Oakville as the location for their orphans' home. It was located at 53 Bond Street. The home was part of their plan to care for children of deceased members.
