      This view is looking south over what will become the Wellington St. bridge crossing the Muskoka River in Bracebridge, 1984. The bridge would reduce traffic jams on Manitoba Street but prevent the Segwun steamer from passing.

      A serious fire broke out early Monday morning December 28th 1908 along the east side of Manitoba Street, destroying several businesses in the heart of downtown Bracebridge. Firefighters were hampered by ice forming due to the severe cold.

      This is the home of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Moon, across the street from the Bracebridge High School, where Mr. Moon was the caretaker. Looks like 1944 was a heavy snowfall winter in Bracebridge.

      After years as a museum, the Segwun was restored and re-launched in 1974. Improvements to the ship continued into the 1980s with the removal of state rooms and the addition of modern equipment. June 27 1981 marked her return to cruising the Muskoka lakes.

      Bracebridge Memorial Community Centre opened officially in January 1949. Now (2018) referred to as Bracebridge Arena, it continues to serve the community.

      This postcard depicts a summer afternoon at the water somewhere in Muskoka. Although it is not dated, it was issued when it cost only one cent to mail in Canada and the US. Judging by the swimming costumes, maybe early 1900s?

      This postcard is titled A "Haying Party" from Milford Bay but judging by the ladies' apparel, this was a party riding on hay, not actually haying on the field. The postcard is not dated.

      Rostrevor Resort, on Lake Rosseau, Muskoka first opened in 1898 by Arthur Dinsmore. By 1916, it could accomodate 100 guests. Despite hard times during the Depression, it remained open until the early 1980s. these cabins and others were added to the main lodge sometime after the 1940s.
