      King Street School was built in 1921 at300 King Street. It was built to replace Henry Street School which burned down in 1920. In 1979 it was renamed R.A. Sennett Public School in honour of its first principal who served from 1921-1952.

      Fred and Gertrude Drew operated Drew's Restaurant from 1931-1943. It was located on the north side of Dundas Street between Brock and Byron Streets. At the time of this photograph, the restaurant also operated as a Gray Coach bus depot.

      The Ontario County Jail was built in 1853 at the south-east corner of King and Gilbert Streets and demolished in February 1960. It was replaced by the new jail on Victoria Street in 1958.

      The Whitby Rotary Club and Canadian Legion sponsored a street fair every summer in the 1930s in Whitby.
