      James Henry Worfolk was born at Whitby 23 January 1862. He was a barber in Whitby. Worfolk was married first to Jennie Leslie and later to Mary Coolidge. Worfolk died at Whitby 10 May 1926 and he is buried at Union Cemetery in Oshawa.

      Lakeview Hall was built for John Rice in 1875 on the hill on the the west side of Brock Street north of Rossland Road.

      The Whitby Collegiate Institute was built in 1873 and was located on the south side of Colborne Street between King and Centre Streets. The school was demolished in 1975-1976.

      The Watson grain elevator was demolished in 1926. It was located on the west side of the slip at Whitby harbour.
