      Adam Duff (1819-1896) and Rachel Park (1833-1920)were married at Pickering Township in 1849, both having emigrated from Ireland. They had seven children. They owned a large farm on Concession 8 in Whitby and in 1887 they removed to Port Perry.

      The residence of John Allin was on the west side of Hopkins Street north of the Grand Trunk Railway (Canadian National Railway) on lot 23 of Broken Front Concession in Whitby Township. The house was built before 1877 and demolished in 1980.

      The Goldring store was operated by the Goldring family from 1911 until it was demolished in 1967. It was located at 1506 Brock Street South, Port Whitby.

      The National Hotel was located at the north-east corner of Brock and Water Streets, opposite the slip at the harbour. It was built before 1857 and closed in the 1880s. The hotel was demolished sometime after 1920.
