      On May 27,1908, the Paquette Dam broke plunging the Canadian Pacific 91522 head first into the riverbed. Engineer Savard, brakeman Inman and fireman McBride died instantly. Fort William offered to help Port Arthur as the cost for clean up and repairs would be about two hundred thousand dollars.
