 Unknown, Ontario County Souvenir, 1854-1904 ( Keystone Press, 1904), 1904     The Ontario Country Registry Office was built in 1873 at the south-west corner of Centre and Gilbert Streets. It stood on the same block as the Ontario County Courthouse.

      The Charles Lynde family lived on the south half of lot 32 of Concession 4 in Whitby Township. The Lynde family originally arrived in Whitby Township in 1804 and settled in the area known as Lynde Creek.

      Reverend P.J. Kelly first presided over this church,which was built in 1904.

      This brick house was built in 1883 for Lyman T. Barclay, a Whitby lawyer. It was later owned by James Rutledge who died in 1914. Richard Norman Bassett then owned the house and sold it in 1951 when it was divided into apartments.

      The Whitby Collegiate Institute was built in 1873 and was located on the south side of Colborne Street between King and Centre Streets. The school was demolished in 1975-1976.

      Dundas Street School, also known as the model school, was built in 1875 on the north side of Dundas Street west of Garden Street. It was demolished in the early 1960s but additions from the 1950s remained and were renamed Florence Heard Public School in 1974.

      The residence of James Keith Gordon is located at 316 Colborne Street West on the north-east corner of King and Colborne Streets. James Keith Gordon was a lawyer in Whitby. The William Gordon family landed at Whitby Township in 1838.
