      Whitby Collegiate Institute was built in 1873 and was located on the south side of Colborne Street between King and Centre Streets. The school was demolished in 1975-1976.

      Almonds Town Line School, also known as Union School Section No.1, was located on the north-west corner of Kingston Road at the Whitby-Pickering town line. It was destroyed by fire on 4 November 1917 and replaced with a brick school house which was demolished around 1977.

      Theodore McGillivray (died in 1925) was a lawyer and later an Ontario County Judge at Whitby. The location of his law office in the 1890s is not known.
