      William Bryan (1830-1898) was born at Brockville, Canada on January 19, 1830 and came to Whitby in 1844 where he operated a stove and tinware business. He died at Whitby on May 30, 1898 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa.

      Ruth Hickie was born at Cashel, Ireland, on October 2, 1835. After coming to Whitby she married William Bryan, a stove and tinware merchant, who died in 1898. Later she married William Mayor. She died at Whitby on February 24, 1926 and is buried in Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
