      Hiram Clark Norton 1846-1919 was son of John 1812-1902 & Elizabeth 1819-1856 (Clark) Norton. Hiram worked as a farmhand in the summer and in logging cams in Quebec in the winter. He could cut a tree faster with an axe than two men with a crosscut saw. C. 1865

      By 1850 Francis 1795-1884 & Clarissa 1807-1886 owned and farmed in Palermo just west of old Bronte Rd at Dundas. In his will Francis left the farm equally to his sons George, Walter and James. Walter sold his share to the other two.
